January to May - Life in the Middle Ages (Medieval Times)
We are stepping back in time, back to a time when Kings ruled the land, Knights protected it and serfs worked longs days in the fields. We're heading to the Middle Ages!!! At the start of this unit, students will be assigned a role in medieval society such as; King, Knight, Miller, Blacksmith, Jester or Serf. Students' job is to research life for their medieval character and portray their character in class. Our class will also be constructing our very own medieval village, complete with a castle, moat, homes and farmland. This is a fun unit. I hope you're as excited as I am!
There's a lot of new vocabulary in this unit so please, please, please review them often.

August to December - Canadian Regions and Mapping Skills
This semester the Grade 4’s will go on an imaginary trip to Canada to learn a little about their teachers’ homes. Together they will practice map reading, study distinctive features of each province and territory and compare their lives in Vietnam to life in Canada.
To end off the unit, students will choose one of Canada's 10 provinces or 3 territories. They will research the population, climate, natural resources,wildlife and tourist attractions in this region in order to produce a brochure for their province or territory. Students are encouraged to only include important information that would be interesting to a tourist, along with an inviting slogan.
